Police Vetting

As Swimming Otago is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all athletes, coaches, volunteers, and parents in our community and as such has adopted the Swimming NZ Member Protection Policy Manual.

Aligning with this policy and to ensure the ongoing health and safety of our young and valuable members, all people working with children, including Coaches, Officials and Team Managers are to be screened or vetted before commencing any of these roles.

A Police Vet application is to be submitted and processed through the Swimming NZ Police Vetting Service by the individual seeking the vet. However, it is the responsibility of the Member Club to ensure all their Coaches, Team Managers and Officials have a valid Police Vet prior to fulfilling roles assigned.

Note 1: dependant on the individual membership category, Police Vet are valid for two years for all coaching categories and three years for all other categories.

Note 2: the Vetting Process can take a minimum of 15-20 days to complete.

Note 3: Coaches who are NZSCTA members are automatically vetted as part of their annual membership.
