Soal & McLean Take Out Emerging Talent Categories at Network Waitaki Sports Awards

A huge congratulations to two of our Otago swimmers who scored big at the Network Waitaki Sports Awards on Monday 13 March.

The awards evening celebrated the Waitaki district's sporting success in 2022, and encompassed a variety of different categories including the Male and Female Emerging Talent Awards. This category was taken out by two of our swimmers - James Soal (Oamaru Swim Club) and Olivia McLean (previously of Oamaru Swim Club, recently transferred to Neptune Swim Club)!

Both James and Olivia had a busy year in 2022, repeatedly reaching the podium at competitions such as the Makos Junior Red Light Invitational, Otago Long Course Championships, Otago Short Course Championships, and Makos Junior Festival, and racking up a handful of qualifying times for the 2023 New Zealand Age Group Championships and Division II Competition.

A big congratulations to James and Olivia, we are so proud of you both. And what an outstanding achievement, and a testament to all the hard work you each put in! We can't wait to see how you both continue to progress in 2023.
