🔵 Jill Clarke (Neptune Swim Club)

Jill is synonymous with swimming in the Otago region, and beyond, having contributed to the success of our sport at every level. She has been involved with Neptune Swim Club for more than three decades, as a committee member from the late 80s to 90s and in a coaching capacity over the past 40 years (currently as Head Coach). Jill was also a co-creator of the Neptune Queen's Birthday Meet, founded 35 years ago, a meet that is to date one of the largest on the annual Otago calendar. Over the years, Jill has also represented Neptune Swim Club on the Swimming Otago Board, and acted as a team manager for a multitude of Otago representative teams headed to national competitions. On a national level, Jill has also been a representative of the Swimming New Zealand board, as well as the New Zealand Swim Coaches and Teacher Association board.

Jill is also the founder of JC Swim School, Dunedin's oldest and most awarded swim school, promoting the importance of water safety and shaping the lives of youth. In 2014, JC Swim School was one of just six schools across the country to be presented NZSCTA's Outstanding Swim School award.

Over her time involved in the sport Jill has been awarded the NZSTCA Outstanding Service to Swimming Award and the Nan Nevin (Master Swim Teacher) Award, as well as Swimming New Zealand and Swimming Otago Service and Honours Awards. Jill is a pioneer in swimming, her dedication to swimming has allowed for the growth of the sport, not only through her Learn to Swim business, but also as a member of the Neptune Swim club committee and head coach, and her dedication to promoting water safety is second to none. We couldn't think of anyone more deserving of Life Membership, and are proud to welcome Jill as our newest Life Member.
