Coaching Opportunity at Port Chalmers Swim Club

Port Chalmers Swim Club are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and friendly person to join their club for the 2022/2023 summer swim season at the Port Chalmers pool.

The coach will be required to work twice a week with the Development Squad and the Fitness/Competitive Squad.

The Development Squad of 9-11 year olds, have completed the initial Learn To Swim programme and are ready to focus on improving technique, build fitness and acquire skills to compete if they wish. 

The Fitness and Competitive Squad is a combination of those who want to swim for fitness and those who wish to train to compete at swim meets.

The coach must have organisational skills that can create and deliver a successful programme for each squad and provide a fun learning environment.  It is important for the coach to have good communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to inspire. 

Start date: Monday 26 September 2022.

Coaching hours required:  

  • 4 hrs per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5pm -7pm. 
  • for 20 weeks - 11 wks from 26 September to 7 December 2022, and 9 wks from 30 January to 29 March 2023. 
  • plus attendance at swim meet competitions

Qualifications required:

  • NZ swim teacher qualification, preferably TOCS,  or be willing to work towards completing this qualification.
  • Swimming NZ member.
  • Current first aid certificate.
  • Police Vetting prior to start date.

Remuneration negotiable and based on current qualifications.
