Commonwealth Games Selection for Fairweather

Neptune Swim Club athlete Erika Fairweather is headed to another major international meet, this time gaining selection to represent New Zealand at the 2022 Commonwealth Games being held in Birmingham from 28 July - 8 August. A massive congratulations to Erika, another fantastic accomplishment and a incredible opportunity for further development in her swimming career.

Erika's selection comes off the back of a successful 2021, breaking the New Zealand Open Record in the 400m Freestyle at the Tokyo Olympic Games to rank fourth fastest in the world for the 2021 season. Fairweather's impressive global rankings puts her in medal contention at the games, where she will race against the likes of Australia's Ariarne Titmus and Canada's Summer McIntosh. With experience at both the junior and senior level on the international stage, we are excited how Erika performs at the Commonwealth Games this year.

Erika has been selected to a 12-strong team of swimmers attending the games, including 4 para swimmers, and is set to compete in the 400m Freestyle, as well as gaining permission to race in the 100m and 200m Freestyle events.
