Otago Junior LC Champs and Senior Carnival Recap

Over the weekend was our regional Junior Long Course Championship and Senior Long Course Carnival. It was all-round a great two day event, with over 200 athletes from across the country in attendance.

First and foremost, Swimming Otago would like to thank the volunteers that made the event possible. From those who gave up their time before and after the meet to set up and pack up equipment, to those officials who showed up session after session - without you, these meets would not be able to go ahead at the official or approved standard. Same goes for timekeepers and those that worked on the medal table. Thank you to all those within our community that did their part for their club and swimmers by volunteering to help, it is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations and well done to all those who competed! We hope you had an enjoyable and rewarding weekend.

One Otago record was broken at Moana Pool over the weekend. Congratulations to Hana Carnie for breaking the 9 & Under Girls’ 100m Backstroke record. This record was previously held by Emma Dick, which was set in 2008. What a fantastic achievement for Hana, whom also recently broke the Otago Age Group 50m and 100m Backstroke Short Course records at Makos Junior Festival last month.
