Otago 13 & over Championships

Over 70 athletes battled it out at Moana Pool, Dunedin, over the weekend to compete for the titles up for grabs at the Otago 13 & over Regional Championships, and they certainly delivered some fantastic performances. There were 222 medals, 134 finalist ribbons awarded along with many personal best times, regional records and qualifying times obtained for upcomig national event.

Following the same format introduced in 2017, regional medals and trophies were competed for in the morning sessions, leaving the evening sessions battling for open honours (money awarded to the top 3) and the Simcic Loader Trophy (top club). Congratulations, Jasi Swimming Club taking first place wth 3806 points, followed by Neptune Swim Club on 3391 points and Wharenui Swimming Club on 2615 points.

Fantastic swimming across all sessions, a real credit to this region’s athletes, coaches and parents, and a testament to your hard work and dedication, congratulations!

A massive thank you to our volunteers and technical officials for their efforts over the four day competition; without these people, meets such as this one would never take place, so recognition is in order.

If you are interested in becoming an official, contact us at and we can begin your training (if necessary for position) as soon as possible. Officials are a fundamental aspect of swimming, and the more officials we have the more smoothly meets run.

Our next event is the Otago Country Club Championships being held on Sunday 4 February at Alpine Aquatic Queenstown, in the meantime be sure to check out some of the imagines taken over the weekend on our Face Book page.
